About the Climb Kilimanjaro Challenge

The Scramblejam Kilimanjaro Challenge 2008 is the first charity challenge being undertaken by Lee Greenwood, founder of Scramblejam - a new Personal Development venture currently under construction.

Lee has set himself the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, in order to raise funds for the UK Alzheimers Society. The climb is taking place in June of 2008, and the target is to raise £5000 in donations either directly because of the climb, or through some of the weird and wonderful events being planned for next year.

Kilimanjaro is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, rising 4,600 m (15,100 ft) from its base, and includes the highest peak in Africa at 5,895 meters. It is the tallest mountain in the world that you can climb on foot, without requiring technical climbing equipment or skills.

Every year thousands of adventurous tourists visit Kilimanjaro National Park, to pit themselves against this monster mountain - not all of them succeed, and not all of them return.

About Lee

Lee Greenwood is a slightly overweight computer genius, trying to overcome his sedentary lifestyle by training and climbing a big old mountain.

Since starting training for the challenge, he has lost over a stone in weight, is considerably fitter and healthier, and is rather pleased with himself.

The downside is there is a long way to go, a few more pounds to lose and a new wardrobe to buy (none of his clothes fit any more)...
